On July 16, 2022 at approximately 7:20 pm, the BCSO helicopter known as Metro 2 crashed just outside of Las Vegas, NM. The helicopter and its crew were assisting with a wildfire in the area; that day we lost the lives of 4 great men.

The Metro 2 Challenge Relay is a 67-mile race starting in Santa Fe and ending in downtown Albuquerque. The purpose of this relay race is to pay tribute to the 4 fallen first responders and their families.
